Welsh Government Collections Review
Extensive review of capital needs for museums in Wales
Headland Director Ruth led a multi-disciplinary team to undertake an extensive review of capital needs for museums in Wales. This involved visiting over 40 museums and national bodies across Wales to understand the current situation for museum collection storage, the causes and impact this has on collections management, engagement and contemporary collecting. The team delivered training for museums on decarbonisation of museum collections, and digital aspects of collections management. The final report put forward a series of recommendations around shared storage and the needs for future museum stores. These recommendations have been taken forward and Headland have been appointed to develop ideas for shared archaeology storage for museums in Wales.
